They are called Bind on Account items, or Heirlooms. In order to have access to get Heirlooms, you must already have at least one level 85 character, for the most part.

There are 2 awesome benefits of getting and using Heirloom items. The first benefit is they scale to your level. So, as you gain levels, the Heirloom item stats (armor, damage, etc) increase as well. This is really cool because it makes it unnecessary to upgrade most of your gear. Heirlooms have good stats, armor, and damage for your current level, so they keep you powerful and able to do quests quickly, which is a huge plus when trying to level up some alt characters.
The second, and probably most important, benefit is that some Heirlooms increase the experience points you gain from killing mobs and turning in quests by 10%. If you have 3 Heirloom pieces that give a 10% experience boost each, that's a total of a 30% experience boost for your character while leveling to level 80. So, if it usually takes you 6 months total, real time, to level your alts, you could level that same character in about 4 months total. Just having Heirlooms could save you 2 months of your time! That's pretty amazing, if you ask me.

build your own electric car
Learning how to build your own electric car is not really that difficult of a project. We did our own conversion of a 1995 Toyota Corolla at a cost of only five hundred dollars.
How did we do it? Well, it really turned into a family project after it began. Here’s how you can do it too.
What you will need to get started:
First off, you will need a large DC motor (9 inches or larger) and a source of batteries. Note that AC motors can be used as well but they are a bit more expensive so we went with DC. They are easier to install too.
You can, of course buy all these parts brand new but this is the heaviest cost of the whole project so we suggest using the sources of free DC motors and free industrial batteries listed in the plans.
They’re not hard to find either and since a DC motor will run for probably longer than you will own your car, using salvaged motors makes sense. Your car will rust out from under you before the motor gives up.
We wanted to keep the costs down and figured this was a great way to do it.
After obtaining your DC motor and batteries, you have to remove your gas engine from your car. Rent a hoist or find a friendly mechanic to lift it out for your. A few bolts and it’s free.
Leave the clutch and flywheel assembly and detach the rest. That will leave you room for batteries and DC motor mounting.
It is imperative that you only use a standard transmission vehicle for your conversion as automatic transmissions simply won’t work.

How did we do it? Well, it really turned into a family project after it began. Here’s how you can do it too.
What you will need to get started:
- Detailed plans on how to build your own electric car
- You can use any vehicle - gas or diesel
- A garage, shop or barn as a work space
- Simple tools every home workshop has - wrenches, drills, etc.
First off, you will need a large DC motor (9 inches or larger) and a source of batteries. Note that AC motors can be used as well but they are a bit more expensive so we went with DC. They are easier to install too.
You can, of course buy all these parts brand new but this is the heaviest cost of the whole project so we suggest using the sources of free DC motors and free industrial batteries listed in the plans.
They’re not hard to find either and since a DC motor will run for probably longer than you will own your car, using salvaged motors makes sense. Your car will rust out from under you before the motor gives up.
We wanted to keep the costs down and figured this was a great way to do it.
After obtaining your DC motor and batteries, you have to remove your gas engine from your car. Rent a hoist or find a friendly mechanic to lift it out for your. A few bolts and it’s free.
Leave the clutch and flywheel assembly and detach the rest. That will leave you room for batteries and DC motor mounting.
It is imperative that you only use a standard transmission vehicle for your conversion as automatic transmissions simply won’t work.

More specifically you want wind speeds that exceed 8MPH on average. Even 8MPH is considered a low-wind-speed area for wind turbines. 12MPH average is ideal.

Taking the time to do so will ensure you choose a wind power system that fits. - Deep Cycle Batteries – To store the power from your solar panels, you will need deep cycle batteries. If you find reconditioned batteries, these can be obtained for fairly cheap. Better yet, you can get old batteries for free and recondition them yourself.
- System Meter – This component is actually optional, but it is suggested so that you have a clear way to see how much power is being fed into your home from the solar panels.
- Converter – Since your solar panels produce DC power, and your home runs on AC power, the converter makes the solar energy usable by your home. A 1500W converter likely won’t cost you more than $50.
- Backup Power – Most systems will also include some sort of backup power. In an off grid application this would generally be a generator. In a city or town, the power grid itself provides the backup.
